Red Dahlia

Impressionistic Observations:
Painting is my creative approach to record and interpret what is before me. In matters of style, I enjoy the freedom of loose, reactive strokes of a palette knife or brush. This allows me to quickly break down a scene to its essence and respond to the rhythms and colors of a landscape, noting detail without over analyzing.
Why Flowers?
Flowers with their combinations of delicate, simple and/or complex surprising features are often taken for granted and overlooked; but in the eyes of an artist they can become a fascinating vehicle to communicate several layers of beauty and wonder. I am enthralled and appreciative of this gift of nature; therefore truly become enveloped in reproducing the various blooms with their organic and mesmerizing characteristics with my paint and canvas. Simply put, I am motivated to paint floral portraits because of the dichotomous nature of their beauty. My paintings are ‘An Homage to a Flower’.
If you truly love Nature, you will find beauty everywhere.
